Life on Mars: Part 6 - Grand Junction, CO.

We arrived in Grand Junction Co. late Tuesday night. Plan would be to stay at the home of Kevin Foote. Kevin was out of town, but made it possible for us to let ourselves in. It was kinda weird staying in someones house when I hadn't met him yet.

The next day was intended to be a rest day for me. I stayed behind while Craig and Steve went for a peddle in the Lunch Loops network behind Kevin's house.

Instead of riding, I did a little grocery shopping with the girls. Kevin came home around noon. He was supposed to show some bike mechanics in town the trails near his house. I had a bit more energy than I had started the day with so I asked if I could go along.

5 mins after I had met Kevin, I was out peddling with him and 3 other dudes who were in town for a bike Mechanics conference.

Not a lot a pics from that ride. Not from me but a few were taken. They will show up later.

Thursday Kevin took us back across the Utah border for a peddle on the Westwater Ridge, some of which overlooked the Colorado river.

We unloaded our bikes...
Got on top of the ridge line...
Took a few group shots...., thats Kevin on the far right. Brian and Christina are his friends down low.
Amazing plant life in the desert this time of year. Ina really lucked out with her timing. The Cacti are in full swing right now.

Brian gets close to the edge for a mini break while riding.

Christina comes down on of the steeper section of the trail.
Steve doing his thing.
The Westwater ridge can be a 25 mile xc ride. All single track. I was off like a rocket this day. I think my best riding since I came down here. Tons of energy. It was awesome.

Except, the next day I would bonk hard. But that's another story.
After the ride we headed to the Hot Tomato in Fruita. Highly recommended. It's run by 2 girls, a former pro rider and a pro photographer. The pizza was delicous and they kept guilting us into buying more beer. How awesome is that.
At some point, I will have scads to say about Kevin. For now, this dude has a urinal in his laundry room so her can work in his garage, drink beer and do his business without running up the stairs. This dude is my hero.
