Chapters Four and Five

Chapter Four : Riamaggiore

We woke earlier than expected, especially considering the hiking from the day before. After breakfast at the Blue Marlin and a trip to the ATM, we got on the train and started our mission to see the rest of the 5 Terre. We went to the southern most Riomaggiore first, getting off the train, walking through the tunnel to get to the main drag. Riomaggiore has the steepest hill for a main road. We went up, and over and back to the coast line, stopping for cafe latte`s near the water.

Chapter Five : Manerola

45 minutes in Riomaggiore then we were heading back to the train and headed for the last town, Manerola. And while we used the train, the next town over really was walking distance if you could walk along the train tacks. But I don`t think you can.

I really liked this town. Maybe the under-rated hidden gem of the 5 Terre. The only thing I would change on my trip to the area would be to visit Manerola at night instead. The picture of the town behind us would be amazing lit up at night. A return trip to Manerola to get that night photo is outmatched by the idea of pizza on our terrace in V.

Zero drama on this day. Time has slipped away from us here now and we just relax. Returning to Vernazza we decided to climb up to Bar Il Torre again for the view and drinks, plus they make an awesome tomato-pesto bruscetta.

If you want to hide from and forget your world, I can think of few better places to do it than here.
