Harry Potter Spoilers

If you haven't read the new Harry Potter book and are planning to, then you may wanna skip this entry.

The thought the book was pretty good. I liked the ending but I thought the whole thing could have been about 100 pages shorter.

There are a few things I don't understand, like how did Neville get the Sword of Gryffendor and did Harry already have the elder wand when he took it from Draco, or was he just the master of it because he defeated him? Yeah, confusing. I was a bit surprised by the death toll. Lupin was lined up classically to be killed off. But Tonks and Fred was a real surprise. Thought it was kinda mean of JK to leave a new baby with out his parents. Ah well.

The weather in Japan is as advertised today. Hot hot hot. I think today I'll just stay inside and try to stay cool. Some students of mine are coming over a bit later to help shop for computer parts so I can upgrade this old junker. Hopefully I can find enough old components and I can get WOW installed and running.

The rest of the week went by fairly uneventfully. Though I think I need to start finding easier and funner ways to teach english. I think the stuff I have done has been too difficult, but everyone here seems to buckle down and get it done. I have been pleased with everyones efforts.

Next weekend there are some festivities I am planning on attending so I should have some new pictures for everyone at home. I hope all is well with everyone. Take care.

Hey Ted,
I totally agree with your comments... I didn't think that was very nice of her to leave that baby without parents - because to what end did it serve?? I still can't figure that one out...
My understanding of the book is this... Neville could get the sword of Gryffindor because a) he was a Gryffindor and b) the sorting hat can always produce the sword of Gryffindor and c) because Harry told him to kill the snake. Remember when Harry had to kill the Basilik in Book 2? Fawkes brought him the sorting hat and Harry was able to get the sword that way....

Now about the wand. Riddle had the Elder Wand. It was buried or entombed with Dumbledore. But he wasn't the true "master" of the wand because he hadn't killed Dumbledore (technicaly Draco did, though I didn't think JK explained that part very well - cause when they talked about Dumbledore and Snape trying to correct/fix the curse on his hand/body - Snape said that he could contain it to the hand but that it would eventually kill him. So doesn't that make you think that it was the curse not the supposed poisoning that killed him????)
I think she could have explained the part about better.

Cause when Harry said that he had overpowered Draco and won his wand I got a bit mixed up when he and Riddle had their last fight. I guess we're to understand that the Elder Wand wouldn't hurt it's true master.... okay... so say that then... *grin*

The other part that was disappointing was that JK didn't explain what Harry had been doing for 19 years other than marrying Ginny and having 3 kids... What was his occupation... was he an Auror??
I liked that Neville became a Professor - it was like a justification or something!! I was impressed!

I'm thinking she has to have another series up her sleeve... she didn't give details on half of the people... waaaay more questions unanswered than answered if you ask me!

So enough Harry Potter... hope you get your computer parts.
Stay cool.
Learn lots.
Inspire lots.
Behave!
(these do not have to be complied with in an particular order)

The reason for leaving the new baby without parents was to illustrate the cost of the war with Voldemort. First war left Harry without parrents and the second war left Tonks and Lupin dead and their child an orphan like Harry was. Some sort of circular reference that if I was better educated in English I would have a fancy name for.
